Our Mission

The Sao Paulo School of Economics at Fundação Getulio Vargas was created in 2003 with the goals of advancing research and learning in economics and, through it, contributing to Brazilian socioeconomic development.
The Sao Paulo School of Economics - FGV has three main objectives:

  • Developing high quality economic research according to the standards of the international academic community;
  • Training students in the state of the art of the theoretical and empirical instruments of economic analysis, therefore providing the necessary background for them to develop into high quality researchers, policy makers, and private sector decision makers; and
  • Contributing to the discussion and analysis of the main public policy issues in Brazil.
